Will the buses continue to service the Bribie Island Shopping Centre?

Yes, local buses will continue to service the Bribie Island Shopping Centre. The TransLink Transit Authority envisages that the park 'n' ride will become Bribie Island’s main public transport interchange providing access to all current services.

In the future the park 'n' ride may replace the current shopping centre bus stop as the island’s main bus service hub. In this situation the shopping centre bus stop would continue to provide access to local island services.

Will the bus services change?

To maximise the benefits of the park 'n' ride, the TransLink Transit Authority will investigate ways to improve connections between bus and train services at Caboolture, as well as ways to integrate local and long distance services on Bribie Island.

The community will be informed of any changes to the bus services prior to any changes being implemented.

How will construction be managed to minimise impacts on the environment?

To ensure that potential environmental impacts are managed appropriately during construction of the park 'n' ride, a Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) will be developed.

The CEMP will cover the following areas:
  • traffic and parking
  • earthworks, erosion and sediment control
  • water quality and stormwater
  • flora and fauna
  • noise
  • air quality
  • waste and hazardous materials
  • cultural heritage
  • safety and emergency.

How many car spaces will be provided?

Up to 240 car parking spaces will be provided at the park 'n' ride. A staged delivery approach has been developed and will be implemented to meet demand.

Initial plans indicate that 120 car spaces will be provided at each stage of delivery.

What type of plants/trees will be used in the landscaping?

The majority of the plants used in the landscaping of the park 'n' ride will be natives.

The trees to be planted in the car park will be selected based on their suitability in regards to dropping of limbs/flowers/fruit, their attraction to birds and their root behaviour.

Will there be a crossing from the kiss 'n' ride (drop off zone) to the waiting area?

Yes, a pedestrian crossing or refuge island linking the drop off zone and the waiting area at the bus station has been allowed for as a part of this project.

Who will keep the park 'n' ride clean?

The TransLink Transit Authority will contract cleaners, landscapers and other maintenance service providers to ensure that the facility is kept to an acceptable level of cleanliness.
