The TransLink Transit Authority looks after seniors travelling on public transport by making sure that TransLink services are accessible, safe and affordable for seniors to use.

Accessible travel

The TransLink Transit Authority makes sure that new buses, trains and ferries comply with standards designed to make travel easily to use, for example, most services are accessible by wheelchair.

Affordable travel

Seniors with valid concession cards are entitled to concession fares at half the adult ticket price on buses, trains and ferries in the TransLink network.

Safety and security

To maximise you safety and security, the TransLink Transit Authority provides many features for trains and busways that deter crime, such as guard patrol, help phones and closed-circuit television monitors.

Quick tips for public transport safety

  • stand well back when a train approaches the station platform
  • watch out for the gap between the platform and the train
  • wait at the bus stop where you can signal and be seen by the driver
  • stand back from the kerb when waiting for a bus
  • wait for the bus to stop before boarding
  • give way to disembarking passengers on ferries
  • wait until signalled by the ferry operator before boarding
